Meh...
Cosmo was the last member of a species of alien plant beings called "Seedarians" in Sonic X. She and Tails fell in love with each other, but near the end of Sonic X, she had to sacrifice herself to save the universe. Sonic tried to use the energy from the chaos emeralds to recover her, but all he got was a seed, which left Tails heartbroken.
If that's not enough, go to wikipedia or something.
